Meet Our Veterinarians

Dr. Stephanie Hunter

Dr. Stephanie Hunter grew up in the Atlanta area and graduated magna cum laude while obtaining her DVM from the College of Veterinary Medicine at the University of Georgia in 2007. Since then, she has practiced small animal medicine and surgery in the Atlanta area. Dr. Hunter considers it a privilege to work in a field that is dedicated to helping animals, and strongly believes that veterinarians must be the voice and advocate of the animals they serve. Her professional interests include small animal internal medicine, feline medicine, management of chronic disease, and preventative care. She enjoys developing lasting relationships with patients and clients alike. When away from the clinic, Dr. Hunter lives with two cats, Sir William Wallace and The Lady Phoenix and enjoys spending time with her husband, Grant, and step-daughter. She also enjoys dancing, hiking, gardening, photography, and laughing with family and friends.

Dr. Lyn Lewis

Dr. Thomas “Lyn” Lewis, Jr. is from coastal Beaufort, South Carolina. He attended Limestone College in Gaffney, S.C. for his Bachelor of Science in Biology, where he graduated with honors. In 1998, he began Veterinary School at the University of Georgia. In 2002, Dr. Lewis had the pleasure of presenting his grandfather, Dr. George Radford, his 50-year medallion honoring his graduation from UGA College of Veterinary Medicine in 1952. Soon after graduation in 2002, he started his career at Appalachian Animal Hospital in Ellijay, GA. He quickly became a partner and then purchased the hospital outright in 2008. In 2009 Dr. Lewis purchased Wayside Animal Hospital from Dr. Mike McGhee. By 2011, Dr. Lewis sold Appalachian Animal Hospital and focused his full energy into serving Pickens County and Wayside Animal Hospital. Dr. Lewis has extensive experience with both dogs and cats but has also worked with gorillas, kangaroos, raptors, cougars, black bears, and other wildlife. He loves internal medicine, dermatology, and has specialized training in physical therapy/rehabilitation. However, he especially loves spending time with our clients in both the exam rooms and the lobby. Dr. Lewis has authored over 100 articles for various newspapers in North Georgia. Dr. Lewis has always stayed active in the community with the local Chamber of Commerce events, he works with local classrooms, the Youth Apprenticeship Program, and the FFA. He is the Founder and serves on the Board for the Mountain Emergency Animal Center, an after-hours veterinary hospital in Blue Ridge, GA. In his spare time, Dr. Lewis loves playing tennis, spending time with his wife Kristen and their children Addison and Patrick.

Meet Our Team

Nicole Troche

Nicole is our Operations Manager. After starting her career in Veterinary Medicine as a receptionist in 2003, she transitioned into Customer Service Management in 2006, and then into Practice Management in 2013. She has received her Veterinary Practice Management Certification at Penn Foster and has a passion for helping others and ensuring that all pets receive quality medicine at an affordable price. Nicole was born and raised in Florida and moved to Georgia in 2001. She enjoys traveling, being outdoors, and enjoying a nice meal with her husband, children, and grandchildren. Her 2 dogs, Raven and Kaia have been a joy for her to watch their bond and ability to help one another, as Raven is deaf and has learned to rely on her sister for direction and has learned sign language for her commands.

Morgan Bond

Morgan is the Express Vets Training Coordinator. She grew up locally in Georgia, but was born in Kentucky and decided to return to her roots for her undergraduate degree and received a Bachelor of Science in Animal Sciences from the University of Kentucky. She has worked in the veterinary field as an assistant since 2015 and, after graduating, moved home to Georgia in 2018. Her love and passion for animals started at a young age and continues to grow! In her free time, she enjoys going to the lake, spending time with friends and family, watching movies, and cuddling with her hound-mix Baxter (aka her pride and joy).

Elena Volozhina

Elena is originally from Russia and has been living in Georgia for the past 17 years. She stumbled into the veterinary field 5 years ago, and hasn’t looked back since. Elena has stated, ” This is my passion, and nothing could ever make me feel more fulfilled, than spending my days making pets’ lives better”. She is the proud mama of 4 beautiful fur babies. And though she has always dreamed of having a small lap dog, the pups that chose me all happen to be sloppy, huge, cuddle bugs. In Elena’s free time she is an avid anime viewer, video game connoisseur, and nature lover. Camping is her favorite kind of vacation. Elena loves being a part of the Express Vets team, and is looking forward to meeting all of our new four legged patients and their two legged counterparts.

Kristine Aikens

Kristine was born and raised in Marietta, GA. She is an avid animal lover with one dog, Phoenix, and two cats, Frankie and B-Kitty currently sharing her home. Kristine was also raised around horses, and has been riding and training since the age of 10. She began her career in the veterinary profession in 2008 as an assistant and a receptionist. Kristine says, ” I wouldn’t want to work anywhere else, helping animals is my passion in life”. In her free time, Kristine enjoys hanging out with her son, Bryce, watching Marvel movies, reading, and hanging out with family and friends.

Angel Lewis

Angel was born and raised in Georgia and has always had a love and passion for animals knowing that no matter what she would spend her career working with them. After managing a boarding facility and having an emergency situation with a furry guest, her desire to move on to veterinary medicine began. Angel has said, “being a vet tech is so rewarding, seeing an animal’s health improve and aiding them every step of the way makes me feel very accomplished and I know this is what I was meant to do; I have found my purpose in life”. Angel has a yorkie mix named Cookie Marie and a Bombay cat named Eclipse and couldn’t imagine her life without them. Outside of work, Angel enjoys hiking with her wife and pup, helping at the boxing gym with “at risk” youth, working out, and creating art.
