Meet Our Veterinarians
Dr. Dawn Jackson
Dr. Jackson grew up in Troy, Michigan and moved to Georgia in 1988. She received both her BS in Microbiology and her DVM degree from the University of Georgia. Since graduating in 2004, she has been practicing small animal medicine in Peachtree Corners. Recently joining the Express Vets team she has a special interest in both dermatology and internal medicine. Her favorite part of being a veterinarian, however, is the relationships that she builds with her clients. She and her husband, Jason, have two children, Sydney and Easton, as well as four cats. When she is not working, she can usually be found on the soccer field with her kids. She also enjoys traveling and spending time on Lake Lanier and the Chattahoochee River with her family.
Dr. Lyn Lewis
Dr. Thomas “Lyn” Lewis, Jr. is from coastal Beaufort, South Carolina. He attended Limestone College in Gaffney, S.C. for his Bachelor of Science in Biology, where he graduated with honors. In 1998, he began Veterinary School at the University of Georgia. In 2002, Dr. Lewis had the pleasure of presenting his grandfather, Dr. George Radford, his 50-year medallion honoring his graduation from UGA College of Veterinary Medicine in 1952. Soon after graduation in 2002, he started his career at Appalachian Animal Hospital in Ellijay, GA. He quickly became a partner and then purchased the hospital outright in 2008. In 2009 Dr. Lewis purchased Wayside Animal Hospital from Dr. Mike McGhee. By 2011, Dr. Lewis sold Appalachian Animal Hospital and focused his full energy into serving Pickens County and Wayside Animal Hospital. Dr. Lewis has extensive experience with both dogs and cats but has also worked with gorillas, kangaroos, raptors, cougars, black bears, and other wildlife. He loves internal medicine, dermatology, and has specialized training in physical therapy/rehabilitation. However, he especially loves spending time with our clients in both the exam rooms and the lobby. Dr. Lewis has authored over 100 articles for various newspapers in North Georgia. Dr. Lewis has always stayed active in the community with the local Chamber of Commerce events, he works with local classrooms, the Youth Apprenticeship Program, and the FFA. He is the Founder and serves on the Board for the Mountain Emergency Animal Center, an after-hours veterinary hospital in Blue Ridge, GA. In his spare time, Dr. Lewis loves playing tennis, spending time with his wife Kristen and their children Addison and Patrick.
Meet Our Team
Nicole is our Operations Manager. After starting her career in Veterinary Medicine as a receptionist in 2003, she transitioned into Customer Service Management in 2006, and then into Practice Management in 2013. She has received her Veterinary Practice Management Certification at Penn Foster and has a passion for helping others and ensuring that all pets receive quality medicine at an affordable price. Nicole was born and raised in Florida and moved to Georgia in 2001. She enjoys traveling, being outdoors, and enjoying a nice meal with her husband, children, and grandchildren. Her 2 dogs, Raven and Kaia have been a joy for her to watch their bond and ability to help one another, as Raven is deaf and has learned to rely on her sister for direction and has learned sign language for her commands.
Morgan is the Express Vets Training Coordinator. She grew up locally in Georgia, but was born in Kentucky and decided to return to her roots for her undergraduate degree and received a Bachelor of Science in Animal Sciences from the University of Kentucky. She has worked in the veterinary field as an assistant since 2015 and, after graduating, moved home to Georgia in 2018. Her love and passion for animals started at a young age and continues to grow! In her free time, she enjoys going to the lake, spending time with friends and family, watching movies, and cuddling with her hound-mix Baxter (aka her pride and joy).
Destiny is a receptionist at Express Vets. Her love and interest for animals started at a young age while caring for her pets which consisted of rabbits, hamsters, and dogs. Later, during her school years, Destiny dedicated her time to showing lambs in 4-H and showing swine with Pickens County Future Farmers of America (FFA). After completing Medical Assisting courses at MTI of North Georgia, she realized the veterinary field is where she truly wanted to build her career. Destiny began working in veterinary services in 2016 and her love for animals continues to grow even fonder. She plans to further her education while caring for the client’s pets as if they were her own.
Destiny has two dogs, Carly & Goose, as well as chickens and rabbits. For recreation she enjoys spending time with her family, fishing at the lake, gardening and creating art. She dreams of owning her own farm someday.
Bio coming soon.
Jahzmen is a Veterinary Assistant at Express Vets. She grew up in Lancaster, California and has loved animals since she was a small child. She has had a desire to work in the veterinary field for most of her life and is currently pursuing her degree in Veterinary Technology at Gwinnett Technical College. Jahzmen resides with her family and all of their pets including five birds, three dogs, three cats, and a guinea pig. In her free time, she enjoys making art, caring for her pets and plants, and watching movies with her family.
Valerie is a receptionist at Express Vets and will be sharing her time in our Holly Springs and North Canton offices. She came to us after recently moving back home to North Georgia from Florida. There she worked at the University of Florida in the Department of Medicine as an executive assistant, as well as managing her own equine quarter horse breeding program.
Her combination in knowledge of human medicine and the loving care of animals is what gave her the desire to work with small animals.
Valerie loves to garden in her spare time and play with her Welsh Pembroke Corgi named Pumpkin.
We offer a wide variety of services for your pet.
More and more pet owners are taking their pets to Express Vets and we want you to experience the benefit, too!
